Vincent // 2002 Chevy astro awd colorado campervan poptop (Jun. 2012 - Mar. 2021)

The purchase of a 2002 Chevy Astro Van, aka Vincent, was purposeful, intentional, and unequivocally one of the best (thee best?) purchases of my life. The catalyst to an adventure-lifestyle driven by exploration and travel.

Without Vincent, there would be no Van on the Run. Few thought that a ten-year old, lightly-modified cargo van was worthy of an adventuremobile pedigree but I had other ideas. THIS was EXACTLY the van I was searching for. Low mileage, All Wheel Drive, WITH a partial conversion - please, “take my money”. After adding a Colorado Campervan Pop-Top to Vincent, it was long until an epic cross-country roadtrip was on the books and the vision of Van on the Run was born.

The journeys and experiences that Vincent lead us to are well-documented in the Adventures section of the site, but if you looking for more on the background of why we choose a 2002 Chevy Astro I encourage you to check out this post HERE.

sienna // 2015 toyota sienna awd minimalist build (Apr. 2021 - Sep. 2023)

The Toyota Sienna’s effectiveness as an adventuremobile platform can be summarized in one word: Underrated.

Spacious, reliable, modular, and proficient are all adjectives that quickly come to mind when considering our reasoning for purchasing the Sienna.

The Sienna served as a practical and reliable daily-driver, weekend adventuremobile, and cross-country road-tripper for us during its tenure. While the Sienna’s comfort and efficiency (we averaged 20+MPGs consistently!) were some of the vehicle’s key attributes, our changing needs - now centered around capability and livability - are ultimately what drove us to pursue Quinn.
